No wonder I was confused. I was thinking it was part of the Web vocabulary, like "FWIW" or "IMHO". Its a relief to hear I don't have a case of "CRS" (Can't Remember S___) disease.

Rick,

DHMO is the acronym for the correct chemical name of this substance, Di
Hydrogen Monoxide.

For more information concerning this dangerous chemical, please check the
following web site. http://lme.mankato.msus.edu/class/629/dhmo.html

Yep.  Since yesterday, I've learned 6 new (to me) names for water;

Di Hydrogen Monoxide
Hydric Acid
Hydroxyl Acid
Di Hydrogen Oxide
Hydrogen Hydroxide
Hydronium Hydroxide

I haven't verified them, so if one or more is in error, so sorry. But I'm glad I know this, now. I felt like I was *drowning* in my ignorance. This thing has been *bubbling* up for awhile, and eventually it would *boil* over and explode like a *geyser*. But then, I got a *flood* of E-Mail enlightening me. Now, I'm *swimming* in knowledge. But, I still have this *sinking* feeling, like the *tides* of change are coming and I'll be swept up in a *sea* of controversy and contradiction. That's the *watered* down version, anyway. But, I suppose once I get *down stream* a bit, and look back at this, I'll see that things were *flowing* nicely. Sometimes, these *waves* of emotion just roll you over. Oh, well, I think I'll go *surf* the net for a while.

Sorry you had to endure that :-)

Everyone knows that H2O is hot water and CO2 is cold water.

When I met my future bride and went up to Alberta Canada to get married, I
had a very New York way of pronouncing the word "water" something like
"waddah". She thought it was very amusing to get me into a conversation
with her friends and relatives in which I would have to say the word. Being
a savvy quick New Yorker, I immediately switched to just calling it H2O. Oh
yes we did go through with the marriage and are celebrating our 40th
anniversary in June. I am still plotting my revenge on her in the spirit of
the old Middle East saying "That he who seeks his revenge in a year's time
is acting in haste." :-)
