Hard to believe just alcohol (except as it might pertain to not wearing a lifejacket) Isn't it fairly easy (even for a novice) to get back in a SOT? Even if you were a little tipsy (you not the kayak). I wonder if he had a heart attack or something. The descriptions are not specific but you do not get the feeling that things were very rough out there.
