Hi guys,

I'm planning a vacation on Corsica, in the Mediteranian sea, may 20'th
to june 9. I'll mostly be making daytrips from my car.

Does anyone know of a radio station giving weather forcasts for that
area, in any other language then French? I know enough French to order
in a restaurant, but not enough to follow a fast speaking Frenchman.

Any info would be appreciated.

Niels.

Check http://www.kanu.de/spezial/kuestenpaddeln/seewetter_ausland.html
for a list of radio stations. I have not found any stations for
corsica in particular but you should be okay with the Deutsche Welle
forecast (on that page, it is in the "Europe category"). It was enough
for me in Turkey (to get in trouble with some real 7-8 Bf instead of
predicted 3 Bf), it should work for you as well. :-)

To give yourself some exercises, here is the written weather forecast
of the Deutsche Welle:
http://dw-world.de/german/0,3367,4216_A_492451_1_A,00.html
The scheme is always the same, so you should get used to it pretty
fast. Depending on your position on Corsica, the "Ligurisches Meer" or
perhaps the "Tyrrhenisches Meer" are for you.

To get the most recent frequencies of Deutsche Welle, go to
http://dw-world.de/german/0,3367,3912-0-0-5_SS_28,00.html and select
the (javascript) Link "Liste der Kurzwellenfrequenzen" on that page (
I refused to turn on Javascript but it should get you there).

Hope this helps a bit.

Cheers,
Marian

PS: in the seewetter_ausland.html page, I found "Grenzwelle
1.696+2.677 kHz at 06.50+14.33+18.50 o'clock" in the France category.
You might want to try that as well as some stations in the Italia
category.
