You might take a look at a backband. The nice thing
with the backbands is that they give support in a
leaning forward paddling position. However, I don't
find them as comfy for just hanging out in the boat.

There are two kinds depending upon how snug you want
to be. The standard models tie with webbing to the
seat bolts. You adjust these once and they are good
to go. My Rainbow Designs is really comfy with lots
of support, but I never feel like I'll have troubles
coming out of the boat. If you get a lot of water in
the boat, the webbing stretches just a little and the
fit gets a little looser.

Some of the new designs use ratchets or cams to give a
really snug fit. You get in and then tighten the band
around your low back. Some of my friends have
mentioned feeling too strapped in. I have been using
a Bomber Gear product that I can still wet exit
comfortably without needing to worry about releasing
cams.

They are worth a look.
