Both excellent books. I find Dutky's book especially good for hand rolls. Derek gives a taste of some of the Greenland rolls but if that's your passion I highly recommend John Heath's "Rolling with Maligiaq" and "Greenlanders at Kodiak" videos. Agreed! While I thought Derek Hutchinson's "Eskimo Rolling" was a pleasant read it's no match for the technical excellence of Dutky's "The Bombproof Roll and Beyond". Someday maybe we'll be including Greg Stamer's "Traditional Rolling Techniques" in the above mentioned list of must-have rolling books. Time to get to work Greg? I'm thinking we could sell a few copies up this way. ;-) Take care till then! I know one person, who is very close to him, who wouldn't mind! =:-o) to the tune of RAWHIDE: Rolling, Rolling, Rolling, Keep them Yaks a-rolling, OFFSIDE. Through wind and waves and weather, nothing could be better, gotta roll that sea kayak, OFFSIDE. steve *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
