As Jed mentioned an effortless technique is the best technique. I took five types of classes while at the East Coast Kayak Symposium. The instruction was superb. All of my instructors said exactly the same thing. Don't fight it whatever it is you are trying to learn. The female instructors always reminded us to have a quiet paddle. That seemed to click. When my roll feels right it seems as effortless as getting out of a chair. When its wrong I feel like I am dragging a large reluctant dog on a leash. Perhaps I will practice on the Savannah tonight. Now to call and find a partner.
