A Greenland roll using the harpoon throwing stick (or norsaq). To some, easier than a handroll (it was harder for me) shawn --- Peter Treby <ptreby_at_ozemail.com.au> wrote: > What is a norsaq roll? > PT > Yahoo! > A Greenland roll using the harpoon throwing stick (or norsaq). I am relieved to receive this simple explanation. For a brief moment I thought this might be something similar to what I did the other day. Started off trying a roll off the back deck, a reverse screw type thing. Swept around, lost the diving blade, got near the surface, lifted the head, went under again, desperately set up a roll of last resort, and finally came up gasping and waterlogged... like a drowned rat. Hence the tentative name, the Ratsaq Roll. The winter days here are short, and not at all conducive to practising rolls in cold water. I'd rather do the Snorsaq Roll. You take some bits of wood and ice and raw seal and roll them up in rice and seaweed. You've never had it? :-) It is Greenlandic-Japanese fusion cuisine. jen *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
