Hi all,

my previous post about the orange dye in banners fading over time might not
have been entirely correct, although some other ageing mechanisms may apply
(plastic becoming brittle or sticking together, tubes leaking). The
manufacturer should know best how long his products are supposed to be
useable, especially under "non-optimal" conditions, and he puts on a date
accordingly (I suppose).

Anyway, I think it is sensible that ALL safety related equipment is labeled
with an expiry date. This way, you are forced (or at least encouraged) to
inspect it periodically, and see if it is still useable.

happy (and safe) paddling,

    Kees
