Hi Jan,
I assume you mean the paddlefloat.  This is one of the few
things I would use the day hatch for, instead consider using
the cockpit (or leave it on deck).  No need to compromise
any seals (that aren't already) when you are in a position
of needing a paddle float.  Outside of this, you will find
it a very useful, accessible storage.
