Mike, Assateague is a wonderful place to paddle. It is most famous for the herd(s?) of free roaming ponies. It is infamous for it's biting flies, mosquitoes, ticks, and deer ticks. You will have a wonderful time if you wait until after the bugs die off to go. Paddle the National park (entry fee, camping fee) if you want to stay in a back country site. You must bring your own water but there are porta-potties. You can also walk across the island to the ocean side. The surf is almost all dumping shore-break. Visit http://www.nps.gov/ for more information. Brian Blankinship Chesapeake Paddlers Association pitzrick_at_juno.com writes: I'm planning to paddle for several days along Assateague Island National Seashore at the end of October or beginning of November. Does anyone have any advice about the whos, whats, whens and wheres? *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
