Need a new life jacket and looking at the Kokatat which is a PFD3. I'm a bit confused over what constitutes a suitable PFD for sea conditions. Over here its supposed to be a PFD 1 or 2 for offshore. But as far as i can tell the major difference between a PFD2 and a PFD3 is the colour and the Kokatat comes in a "mango" color which looks as though it should be clearly visible. I was attracted by the D rings and pockets for gear and EPIRB (or food bars). But maybe these also contrbute to the lower 'rating' 3 vs 2? Interested to hear what people think.
