[Paddlewise] The Dreaded Perception Plastic Problems?

Hi all,

I hate to ask for a rehash of an old line of debate, but I need to catch =
up on the best way to store my plastic Perception touring kayak. =20

I paddle somewhere on a weekly basis year round here in the sunny south. =
I read the scant owners manual and e-mailed the factory a couple =
times with a few questions. Their conflicting answers gave me the =
impression that they just make the boats and haven't put enough =
consideration into care, storage and car topping. Or maybe the various =
tech reps work from their own opinions rather than the facts.

I store the boat in comfortable conditions in a garage basement on its =
side supported on blocks about 3 feet apart. Should I alternate from =
left to right side between uses? Should I support it on padded blocks =
under the bulkheads instead? Or what about wide straps hung from the =
ceiling?

If anyone can forward me the some essential tips it would help. I have =
seen some reference to the "well known Perception plastic problems" and =
would appreciate the info.

Bill the lurker,
Birmingham, Alabama
