RalphH: Green "chemical" gloves work for me with and without liners and come in truly huge sizes. That's mostly for paddling truly in the depth of winter though. I tend to get away with latex surgical gloves most of the time -- I reckon it's not so much a question of acquiring thick (and therefore cumbersome) insulation layers, but rather of preventing the drastic cooling effect of evaporation of moisture directly off the skin of the fingers that has the greatest effect.
