both clubs have both whitewater paddlers and sea kayakers as members.

a bit further south, Chicago has three sea kayaking clubs, the first two of
which have a sea kayaking focus, the last now has more sea kayak activity
than rowing, but historically has been mainly a rowing club (but has a
clubhouse with easy Lake Michigan access, just north of downtown):
