Was hoping to get out tonight (Wednesday), but wind died off. I'll see what happens Friday or Saturday night. I need a certain set of conditions to preclude disaster, as I'd like to hit things in the gale-to-storm-force range with a reasonable chance at a lee shore. I've paddled in tide races before at night (no moon, either) so it's not like I haven't experienced the lack of visual input before. The wind waves will add a new dimension to the experience. When you are into extreme paddling, one has to come up with new and interesting/imaginative ideas to stay ahead of these young hot shots (like you!). I've padded-out the cockpit some more (to the point of near-entrapment), so I'm looking forward to the boat-hull-body connection thingy. My wife isn't too happy about it. As far as a light, I'm going to use my bike light, which is waterproof to some degree. I'll supplement with some saran-wrap. As for keeping the lamp attached to my surf helmet - come on Shawn, Zap-Straps rule. And here I thought you were the handy guy on this list! :-) I'll report back to the list upon successful completion of mission. The low is supposed to be around 961mb, with "tree-toppling" winds and _mild_ temps. Sorry Wes, the only thing solid around here is the shoreline (THUD, as Doug blithely smucks into it in the dark!).
