Wade,

I keep my Garmin etrex in an otter box with a clear plastic case. I
glued a neoprene strip to my spray skirt. Glued on the the 2 ends so the
GPS is firmly held in the middle. I have a dagger meridian and found I
couldn't see it on the deck under the bungies.

2 words of warning:
1) The Garmin etrex claims to be waterproof, but it is NOT. Before the
Otter box I used to just put it on the skirt. It leaked and failed.
2) Constantly looking down at the GPS in rough weather can make you
seasick. Remember to spend most of your time looking at the horizon.
