Anyone out there have a good solution for hatch fastener systems? I have a Pygmy Coho into which I am now (reluctantly after one season of use) going to put bulkheads/hatches. I'm a little leary of Pygmy's system of cams and straps. Any ideas out there? Thanks! Browsing Ross Leidy's kayak pages may provide ideas for many wood kayak building options, as well as some further links. http://www.blueheronkayaks.com/kayak/index.html is the main page For cinched hatch covers possibilities (re: Mike's comments on John Winters' system), check out how Ross did the retractable skeg control line - see 'SK S&G' on the left, scroll down to 'retractable skeg' - which could possibly be adapted for a cinch system. For bungee systems, click on "how to" on the left side, and then 'underdeck bungees'. Also see the pages on 'SK S&G' and 'Guillemot' for images of flush-mounted hatches.
