> The Pawlata is a roll that is useful as an introduction to rolling, but not > one that you want to rely on. While what you say about the Pawlata is mostly true, I would like to add that I occasionally use it in the surf after I have been brutally hammered by a large wave and I am out of air and need to come up now! While my screw roll is a pretty sure thing, with the Pawlata you get so much leverage that even a really sloppy (and desperate) roll will bring you up. I also generally resort to the Pawlata when I'm rolling big wide sit-on-tops, and doubles. Again, for the extra leverage it provides.
