You don't have to wet exit to use a paddle float - provided that the pf is at hand and ready to use when needed. It's possible if the pf is thin (closed cell foam ), with a grab loop and stored under the bungies ( under the map ) in front of the cockpit. A 40 mm ( 1 5/8" ) thick pf isn't easily swept away either. When upside down you grab it - thread it on the paddle blade - move the blade out and push yourself up.
