Used clean water on a "Q-tip" to remove any salt, let it dry, and it seemed to be okay. To get around that on the Standard --- and, looking at my old Apelco, it's probably the same for yours --- I put a couple of turns of electrical tape around the seam between the battery and the radio battery after charging. (It happens to cover the contacts as well, which is good.) Have never had a leak when using fresh electrical tape a seal.
