Thanks AJ; I paddled the narrows Saturday on another's recommendation. Quite a lovely stretch. Saw a couple nutria and flushed out a huge beaver which breached two feet from my boat and got a little yelp out of underflappable me. A seagull cruised over and I said 'don't you dare' and he dared. Missed me by about a foot. I'm not one to impute mischief to such a tiny brain, but his trajectory was pretty dang good. <snip> Willamette Narrows/ Rock island is a nice paddle upstream from the Falls (Put in West Lynn boat ramp off 12th street). A second choice and a little farther form PDX is Ash island (put in Newberg at Rogers Landing at the end of River Rd). If you decide to do Ash island and want some company give me a heads up as it is practically in my back yard.
