Thanks very much to everybody who replied to my Baja query. The collective advise from the group has been, and will be very helpful. So far I see a few patterns emerging.... bring water, sunscreen and shade, get permits and insurance ahead of time, paddle in the morning, and wear zippered pants to keep the sand out... It looks like we are opting for November, taking my little pickup down with our own boats. I really like Rob's suggestion of a one way trip from Mulege to La Paz. Unless we really get holed up by bad weather the 220 miles should be easily managed in the time available. And if not there appears to be a number of bail out points enroute. Now... all I have to figure out is how to get the boats back to the truck... and no, they aren't folders. Once again, thanks all Steve Davis Rainy Victoria *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). One last thought, the folks at Ecomundo could probably help you with shuttle details you might contact them ahead of time. http://home.earthlink.net/~rcmathews/ When we bailed out at St Nicholas we had no trouble finding a local to shuttle us to our cars. Usually folks are anxious to make a few bucks driving their cars. Good luck we are talking about a trip in November lso. -- MZ *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
