I am trying to find more information about kayaking on Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba. On one hand I am curious about shorter trips on the South end of the lake but I am also considering the logistics of a crossing from the Red River to Norway House on the East side. I am aware of some of the more obvious references (like "Canoeing with the Cree") but am interested in finding more information that would apply to kayaking on the lake, or just more detail on travel logistics in general. People that write about the lake talk about unpredictable waters, fierce storms, and true wilderness isolation. I guess that is maybe why it sounds so interesting! It seems very few people actually attempt the crossing at all, I am wondering if anyone has done it by sea kayak. Any information or leads? Anyone interested in putting aside common sense and pondering a crossing a couple years out?
