Seems to me that the blades on a Greenland paddle are pontential wedges for prying apart glued-together foam. So would there be any merit in using some of that gray pipe foam (the kind meant to keep your water pipes from freezing) as a sheath for the paddle, and then building up the minicell foam around that, where it's not  being cut at directly by the blade edges?
