Hi all Dreams don't come true unless you start by dreaming... A friend and I are beginning seriously to consider a kayak trip in Lancaster Sound. Our current target is to do this in 2005, which seems a long way off, but something tells me these things needs lots of planning. Naturally the are a million things to think about and work out. But one of the fundamental questions is simply how to get there - given that we are by no means rich. I know there are a few commercial packages available, but they seem prohibitively expensive. We live in the North of Scotland. Evidently we could get to "normal" destinations in North America or Europe, but what is the best (and most economical) route? For example, what are the prospects of arranging some berths on commercial shipping? Would folding kayaks (I have a Feathercraft K1) be a major advantage in terms of getting there? Basically, any advice from anyone who has paddled there, or ever looked into getting there, would be hugely appreciated. good paddling to all paddlewisers: spring is nearly here :~) Nick *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
