For the "bump", I used a piece of spare bungie cord under my "wrap" and used electrical tape for the actual wrap. I didn't think the tape would hold once it got wet, but it did. It's been there 2 years now. To improve the grip, you can either use some of the "rubber in a can" stuff that lots of folks use to coat tool handles, or use some of the spray stuff used on steps and ramps to reduce slipping. I found the electrical tape to be sufficient, though. It's not quite the same as the store bought stuff, but it works and the price is right.
