Is it true that if you are painting the S&G boat that you need to be more careful about runs or drips in the finish - as opposed to leaving the grain show thru - that the paint tends to highlight blemishes more? Not suggesting that you want to try for lots of drips and runs! BUT...I talked to one person who built a S & G boat that intentionally didn't fuss with the perfect finish - with a perfect finish he felt he would always be pampering the boat and worrying about every scratch....this way, he starts out knowing that there are blems so he enjoys his new boat more.
