I've seen two interesting wooden boats -
	on one the builder tie-dyed cloth and glassed it onto the hull
	on another they painted or dyed a whole series of Native American symbols 
(that I believe told a story) on the cloth before glassing it 	onto the boat

As aesthetics goes - the beauty is in the eye of the beholder...personally, 
a tie-dye boat isn't in my future!
