Hi All,

I'm new to paddlewise. I've been a paddling partner of Duane Strosakers for
more than three years now. I jumped at the chance to test my endurance level
on his quest to paddle 100 miles without landing or sleeping.

Duane has excellent paddling form, self discipline, and he is in great shape.
I am ten years older and working on my technique.

I only made it 75 miles, after 26 hours I was spent. My muscles were burning,
my joints were sore, and I was becoming dizzy. It was time to pull out. The
hours before dawn were the toughest, sleep deprivation the biggest enemy.
Looking back, I am amazed I made it that far.

How Duane continued on for another 9 hours, 45 minutes is an astounding
accomplishment.

Pain: During the first 24 hours after the paddle, I had numbness in my fingers
and toes. It was difficult to find a comfortable position to sleep. My
joints were swollen and painful, and my muscles sore. I hurt all over, except
my butt. Two days later I attended an exercise class and was getting back to
normal.

I will never attempt to equal or surpass the 75-mile mark, once is enough.

Steve Wilson
