The casual kayak see what they are doing as completely different from what you and I like to do. They don't have the first clue that there is serious risk in going out in a kayak on a nice calm summer day. We first need to convince them that there is a risk, we then need to teach them how to decrease the risk. And failing that we should still try to teach them a few things that would keep them alive if they ever need to save themselves. If Tim were here he would say they should all be required to buy sponsons. We should be able to come up with something better than that.
