Actually, my daughter tried the umiak and found it totally unresponsive and we ended up purchasing the picollo by Wilderness systems. She was has to work that boat like an expert and didn't regret not taking the umiak. If I also remember right, the Picollo was cheaper too. My daughter now paddles an Ascente by Seaward and was able to paddle most of our trip into the Queen Charlottes last summer. Just something else to consider.
