Peter,

Did you have a bad experience without one?

I do have to admit that I don't think "backbandabondonment" is for everyone.
It takes strength and technique to get by without one and is rather Spartan.
I am still experimenting with it and have not fully committed to it yet. I'd
like to get some more time in the surf with it first.

Good morning Group,

I am a backbander.  I like 'em

It is part of the link that holds me in the boat.

Backband, seat, thigh braces and foot peddles all serve to lock me in.  
I guess it is the white water background I come from. 

With out the back band, I slide around in the seat.   The band is 
forward on the seat.  I get in, move my thighs to the thigh braces, 
bring the feet to the foot peddles.  Then I raise the back band up to 
the small of my back.  Locks me in,  Tight!
