The Tempest is a neat boat. I am 6'-6", and fit it just fine. A lot
of people compare it favorably to the VCP Avocet. I bought an Avocet
in July 2002, just before the Tempest came out. shucks! I like that
the Avo has a slightly lower deck and a little more rocker.

If you have big thighs, you'd find my Avo a tight fit, and the Tempest
170 a comfortable fit. I think your physical height is less of an
issue. I'd recommend the Tempest 165 to shorter/smaller paddlers. The
Tempest tracks well, but is still quite maneuverable when upright. It
really does nice leaned and edged turns.

Hahaahahahaha! Talking to the dealer at the local paddlefest last
weekend, it sounds like Wilderness Systems is having a hard time
keeping up with demand on these boats. (good job, SS!) The hull was
just debuted in August 2002, so it's still a very new boat. It's going
to be scarce on the used boat market, and not likely to be on the
market long if one does show up there.

After WS catches up to demand on the rotomolded boats, they're
supposedly going to offer some nice custom features from the
factory--foot pumps, custom-placed bulkheads, dayhatch optional, etc.
