Andy, I found the original backband on my GS to be very comfortable. I only replaced it when it finally fell apart from use. I then replaced it with an NSI anatomic backband. If I had it to do all over, I would have saved $10 and not gotten the deluxe version with the adjustable lumbar support - it's unnecessary. Also being able to adjust the backband easily is over-rated. Once the backband is adjusted, I don't play with them any longer.
