I am considering building a SOF baidarka, as close as possible to the one
collected by Margaret Lantis in 1934. I have the plans and articles prepared
by David Zimmerly but am hesitant to special order the wood. I am concerned
about the finished weight of this boat after calculating the weight of the
wood to be ordered. Does anyone on the PaddleWise know the finished weight
when the frame is built to match the original? I have a bad lower back and
am unable to manage my 44 pound stripper without excruciating pain that lasts
for days. I have no trouble with my 27 pound kevlar, no gel coat, boat and
think I could deal with the baidarka if I could keep the weight under 30
pounds.

Thanks.
Richard
