Last fall, I was looking at a move to Sheboygan, WI. It didn't work out,
but maybe that was for the best- it appears that I've landed a job in
Madison, WI. So.....I'm wondering if there are any Paddlewise folks in
Madison, or if any of the northern boating contingent is aware of any clubs,
etc. in the area??

Any information would be *deeply* appreciated!!

I moved to Dayton, Ohio from Madison.... Get 'hold of Carl at Carl's
Paddlin' [or maybe it's now "Carl & John's Paddlin' " !!!]. Good guy, he'll
be helpful!

Not sure about clubs, but I'm sure you can get info from Rutabaga...they're
the most complete outfitter/shop I've come across in WI, they're based right
in the heart of "mad town". Once you get settled into the state, you'll find
fantastic opportunities on both the Great Lakes, as well as some really nice
inland lakes..my personal favorite is the Willow Flowage located "up north".
Its like being in Canada, but only 4 hrs from my door in Milwaukee.

Todd,

There are a lot of paddlers in Madison, not sure about Paddlewisers.
There is a local club, The Mad City Paddlers, of which I am not a member.
http://www.geocities.com/yosemite/falls/1922/

The U of Wisc. also has an organization which is open to those not
affiliated with the UW, again I know of them, but I guess I'm not a
"joiner". I know they are involved in various trips and activities. A search
for the Wisconsin Hoofers Outing Club should get you some info.

Lotsa water around, two good paddleshops to leave your money at. Plus
Madison is a good town. I've often heard it described as having the same
feel as Ann Arbor, and Austin, being the state capital, and home to a major
university.

Feel free to e-mail off-list, if you have any questions.
