With the right technique you shouldn't have to use your wrist at all to use a feathered blade, also keep a 'loose' grip and learn to open the pushing hand from time to time (every 15 minutes or so?) to flex the muscles, tendons, etc. Never learn to use a paddle with unfeathered blades... Very dangerous when if out at sea the wind picks up.
