My memory isn't so good, though, > so I may be way off base. > The original post mentioned a 3000 Nm goal. I said something like I was already 500 mile behind in the first month so why bother to make resolutions. Back channel I wrote you about my plans and explained that I had laid out a schedule for 3000 Nm but I knew that I could not actually keep up with that plan. I was hoping to use that schedule as incentive to get in an actual 2000 Nm. Well its not even going to be close. I will have about 500 Nm done by the end of August. I am still hoping to get up to 1000 Nm. Our best paddling season is October - December so it is possible, but not likely unless I can get closer to the 150 Nm/month level. Most months I have been paddling around 70Nm, but in Feb and July I got in less than 20Nm which really hurt my efforts. One of the of the factors has been the lack of 4-6 hr paddles. I have been doing regular 2 hour paddles in the 6 to 7 Nm range but I just can't seem to find time to get in the 12-18 Nm paddles that I use to do fairly often. Still it has been interesting keeping track of my progress. I have an Excel spreadsheet with dates, miles and paddling times as well as highlight notes describing each paddle. Its nice to be able to look back and see where I went, who I paddled with and what interesting things we saw. Mark J.
