Michigan State University's Center for Marine Research is forming a recreational boater panel. It appears the intent is to create a forum to survey boat owners. As such it would appear important that kayakers and other paddle sport groups participate in large numbers. As far as I can tell this is on the up and up. The link is below. The mail I received was: - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - We are hoping to recruit the largest recreational boater panel that has ever been assembled. We will be mailing to more than 350,000 West Marine customers, 100,000 Boat US members, and more than 80,000 persons who attended boat shows around the country. In addition, stories about the panel will appear in boating magazines over the coming months. As of today 6,000 persons have signed up to be on the panel. The Panel will become a major significant tool to help agencies, policy makers and industry understand boater preferences, expectations, concerns and behaviors. It will provide a means, that is not currently avaiable, to conveniently (for you) and efficiently survey boaters on emerging issues. The first survey will be conducted early this fall. Please forward this email and link to the Boater Panel registration to your friends and clubs. Thank you again!
