G'Day Peter and all,

The blades are set towards the cockpit and the sock is almost the length of
the blade. The paddle is replaced shaft first into the sock.

I think it would be quite a bit harder to replace the paddle in a short
envelope of cloth at the tip of the blade, with the blade at the stern end,
though I haven't seen this tested.

The sock is tied down to the deck at points along its length especially at
the mouth of the sock.

Next time I see one I'll photograph it and put it on a web site for you.

All the best, PeterO
