"The cleverest idea, very popular in my club, is to fit a fabric sock of
shade cloth on the deck of the boat, blade end near the
cockpit, so you can easily take the paddle out AND put it back while at
sea."
Peter: Is this a sock as long as the spare paddle half? I have recently
fitted a short closed envelope of shade cloth to take the tips of the spare
paddle blades. I store the spare with the blades towards the stern. The
shadecloth envelope prevents the spare paddle halves slipping back and
letting the spare flap free or escape. This can happen in surf. A full sock
for the spare might be better. Is the sock lashed down along it's edges?
Pictures anywhere?
Cheers, PT.
