We did get some great swell and wind here in the Pacific Northwest finally, with commencement of some fine surf starting Thursday, Oct. 9th. I wasn't able to get out as planned that day. By today, Sunday, the anticipated storm warning was downgraded to a gale warning, with the buoy notching down from Thursday's 8-meter swell to 6 today. By the time I got out to Jordan River after church, Kirby was already suited-down, with his SOT ensconced back on his Van -- at least he had some fun just before the gale and squalls arrived. It wasn't big enough for me to suit-up. Go big, or go home. I headed home, but stopped in at Sooke, but it was running 35 to 40 knots, which wasn't worth the effort (my next notch up for the East Sooke Park run is 45 knots). Besides, my septic field just backed up, so I headed home to start the next few weeks of digging. Oh joy. When it rains, it pours. Here's a pic of my brother-in law's brother hitting the waves at Port Renfrew Thursday (he's at the top right hand of the pics, on the red/yellow board). http://www.surfingvancouverisland.com/surf/photo01.htm Doug Lloyd (awaiting the next storm) Victoria BC ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~ "Whatever can be said at all can be said clearly and whatever cannot be said clearly should not be said at all."
