[Paddlewise] rolling

I think I'm going to sound simplistic and naive, here, but...

I'm into folding kayaks.  Not much sea-time, yet, but that will change 
this year.  At the moment I have a Klepper double, which I understand 
to be considered "unrollable".  I'll probably get a smaller folder for 
solo use sometime in the future, but I will also probably continue to 
use the Klepper in the sea-- so this applies to both of the above 
possibilities.

I'm trying to get at: I don't how to roll, and I don't anticipate being 
in a boat that can be rolled.  How much of a safety margin am I missing 
out on?

As most of us know, Klepper doubles and other folding kayaks have a 
long and distinguished record of open-water use.  The party-line in the 
folder community seems to be that foldables are so stable and magical 
that they don't need to be able to roll (and the image of the sailboat 
doing a roll in "The Perfect Storm" swims into my head...).

Regardless of the responses to this, I am planning to take the BCU 
2-star sea kayaking course this summer, before getting out on any open 
water-- even though I still don't expect to be able to roll my Klepper 
after the course.
