You should check out the Necky Tesla. It is 25" wide, 18' long, and has lots of leg room and lots of storage space in the 2 hatches. I am 5'11" and weigh 200 lbs, and the boat is actually much bigger than I need, but I have been very happy with it. The price is in line with your budget, and I'm sure a used one could be had for much less. I weigh 280 + and am a proficient canoeist. Before Spring I would like to buy a Kayak which can be used on both Superior and in my back yard. To date the Eddyline Night Hawk 17.5 is the only boat, I've seen which seems to work. Are there any other suggestions? $2300 is pushing the budget. Also, I am looking for a WI or MN Source with a wide selection.
