What I have seen swimming which seemed astonishing at the time was a mouse crossing about a 30 yard slow moving river a deer swimming in front of an Alaska ferry from one island to another about a mile away a mink type animal swimming from one small island to another about a mile away bears swim well too - I was on an island about a mile and a half from the mainland and a black bear came out of the bushes a wolf on a relatively small island about 1.5 miles away from the next piece of land - there would hardly be enough sustenance for a wolf on the island, long term, so it must have swam the distance - no mean feat as there is quite a tidal stream between the two islands. regards tony *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
