Hypalon is inert to hydrocarbon-based solvents, at least for the brief
exposure you need. Others have suggested lighter fluid and WD-40, and a
couple proprietary mixtures. When I need to remove a particularly
intractable adhesive residue from a nonporous surface, I use 3M's General
Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, P/N 051135-08984, which I got from the local NAPA
store. I've used it on hypalon a couple times, and no damage has shown up,
some 3-4 years later. I gather this stuff is in common use for cleaning off
old windshield adhesive prior to replacing with new. It is nasty to breathe,
so use it outdoors and burn the rags or allow them to vent for a couple days
before committing them to the garbage barrel. A quart will last a lifetime.

This stuff is composed of naphtha (ala lighter fluid), xylene, and
ethylbenzene. It should not be allowed to stand on vinyl, but is OK on
hypalon.
