Mini has attached the factory racks directly to the roof and frame by pre-locating (by design) the location for the roof racks. It has a dual sun-roof (fore and aft) and with the Thule j-racks I carry two in the saddles and one in between. No worries at all. Mini claims a 260lb weight capacity.
