If you follow the sentiment of some of the paddlers on the QajaqUSA forum the 
modern composites/plastic/strip/ S&G/SOF/Lincoln Log/Lego kayaks of today are 
not real qajaq's at all (note the different spelling). They are qajariaq, or 
like a Greenland qajaq. My own view is that there is no one true kayak. Unless 
you are talking about SOT's: those are not kayaks, they are dugouts.
