Zero pressure, I have no pedals/foot braces at all. I actualy hook the tops of my feet under one of the deck X beams to keep me in place. > Try to paddle without pressing hard against the > setback. I do it all the time. My boats (the chopped Seguin and the Chupacabras and SOFs) have a 16 to 18 inch diameter round cockpit, which is only 6&1/2 inches up from the bottom of the kayak on the front. Underside on massiq to hull. No seat at all. Not even a foam pad. Thighs are sandwiched between the hull bottom and the under side of the massiq. This allows me to paddle w/ my backside about 8 inches fwd of the aft end of the coaming/back bulkhead. No back band at all. Legs are totaly extended and flat on the bottom of the hull, relaxed except when extra effort is needed I draw back on the tops of my feet. > The only way the kayak can move forward is if something pushes it. That > something is you. yes I understand your point, you need a source of contact/ friction between your body that is paddling, and the boat you seek to move fwd. But there is more than one way to accomplish this. best: michael *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
