HI
I've been lurking around for nearly a year enjoying all of the discussions
about kayaking. Now I am thinking of buying a Sealine deck bag with the
"Zip Lips^Y closure" and was wondering how well these work as opposed to a
more traditional roll and clip dry bag style deck bag? Does anyone have
experience with these bags who would like to comment?

The sealine bag is splash proof not water proof. Waves, especially following
ones will work their way in. I use one but I do not keep anything that needs
to be kept dry in it unless it is in a zip lock bag.

It's water resistant. The Aleutian Deck Bag they make is reputedly
waterproof. I've seen another deck bag with a real waterproof zipper
- the kind you find on a drysuit - but can't remember the make. I
thought it was Voyageur or North Water, but their web sites don't
list it.

I have one; have used it as a deck bag on kayak and thwart bag on canoe. Works fine. Keeps things dry. But I haven't put it totally underwater to really check it out.
